W Hotel Koh Samui – The hippest place in Thailand

After already reporting extensively about the Vana Belle Resort, I would now like to introduce you to the final Hotel from Thailand: The W Hotel Koh Samui! It was definitely the coolest hotel I have ever stayed at. The design, the concept and the service are just exceptional and quite different than what you are otherwise used to. For those who yearn for a vacation with a lot of change-up, spirit and fun activities without sparing the wellness and fitness aspects, the W Hotel Koh Samui is exactly the right choice!

The impressive half-open lobby is the signature feature of the hotel. The lounge furniture is set part-way into the water and are the perfect place to enjoy a cocktail while watching the beautiful sunset. From here you also have an unparalleled view of the shimmering turquoise-colored ocean and of the neighboring island Koh Phangan.

Another distinctive feature of the hotel is the beach area. Because the two bays, Bo Prut and Mae Nam, join together at exactly this point, there are two different types of beaches and two different types of water to be found here that merge directly into one another. Because the beach consequently appears as a little peninsula, the view is pretty spectacular and extraordinary.

The design of the hotel is very attractive, innovative and modern. Despite the hip look, there are also traditional influences at the W Hotel. The gardens are also breathtakingly beautiful and very well-maintained. The W Hotel has a total of 74 suites in eight different categories. We stayed in the 223 square-meter Tropical Oasis suite. Surrounded by palms and other plants, we even had our own garden, private pool and a beautiful terrace. Because of the many plants, the area is totally sheltered so that no one can see into the private garden. Our little cottage was only about 100 meters away from the beach. The design of the suite is very modern, hip, and both elegant and chic at the same time. The bathroom is open and very bright, with a big bathtub, view of the pool and also a great outdoor shower.

Apart from the Tropical Oasis, there is also the Jungle Oasis, Wow Jungle Oasis, Ocean Front Haven, Wow Ocean Haven, Extreme Wow Ocean Haven, Ocean View Escape and the Seascape Escape. The latter is the biggest house of the hotel, which expands over 2000 meters squared, stands on its own little hill and offers space for 8 people.

The W Hotel also has two trendy Restaurants and bars. At The Kitchen Table there is also a delicious breakfast served every morning. Aside from a juicing station, homemade nut milk and a Thai food station, there is also a classic western breakfast. I especially liked the wide variety of healthy and vegan products! At lunch the restaurant serves a large variety of curries, salads and gourmet pizzas.

The trendy Japanese restaurant Namu was our favorite. The cool, highly modern design with wooden components and a view of the beach and the ocean make for a perfect dining experience. The dishes were also very delicious, beautifully arranged, and very aromatic. On our last evening at the W Hotel we were able to enjoy a wonderful “Dining under the Stars” experience. As you can see in the images, the setting was just dreamlike, and the five-course menu that the Namu team conjured up for us was absolutely heavenly. A wonderful evening that will always remain in my memory!

For those who are on the lookout for extraordinary cocktails and drinks should absolutely go to the WOOBAR. The drinks are not only arranged very artistically and are real eye-catchers, but are also unbelievably delicious. From here you can also watch the sunset and bring the day to a close.

The SIP Bar is directly at the beach and serves cocktails, drinks and light snacks for lunch. Here you should absolutely try the guacamole and the salads – so delicious! A live DJ also provides cool music and a good atmosphere. In general, the beach club was one of my favorite places in the hotel: Hammocks under palm trees, comfortable loungers and daybeds with views of the ocean – the perfect place for a relaxed day at the beach.

For those who also want to keep in shape during their vacation, The W Hotel offers a large selection of sport courses, such as Thai Boxing, Pilates and many more. Additionally, the hotel also has a large and very well-equipped fitness room. In the adjacent AWAY Spa you can relax afterwards with an extensive massage. The AWAY Spa offers many different treatments: from massages to beauty treatments and facials, there is something for everyone here. The treatment rooms are very stylish and even extend to an outdoor area with a Jacuzzi and loungers.

As already mentioned, you will never become bored at the W Hotel because there are so many great activities during the day, and there are also different programs in the evening as well. Monday evenings there is always a Movie Night that takes place starting at 8 o’clock. Luckily this fell exactly on our first night at the W, so we laid down on one of the large beanbag chairs on the beach after dinner and watched The Devil Wears Prada on the projection screen. Incidentally, there is also a big pool party WILD WILD WET that takes place every month, and it can be counted among the coolest pool parties!

An additional super cool highlight of the W Hotel is the “Whatever Whenever” Service. Here you can let your every wish be fulfilled, twenty-four-seven. The very warm and attentive W-Team takes care of everything, and they do not back out of any effort. Very much under the motto WHATEVER, WHENEVER – as long as it’s legal!

I hope you liked all the hotel tips from Thailand. We totally enjoyed seeing so many amazing places and the W Hotel was definitely one of our favorites. We will be back for sure! If you’re looking for more travel tips, head over to Momentum and check out their cool travel guides!

Wow, da bekommt man wirklich sofort Lust auf Urlaub! Hab natürlich gleich nachschauen müssen, was das kostet.

Man muss also immer nach Angeboten ausschau halten. Bei Check24 finde ich eigentlich immer gute Deals! 🙂
