Besides summer, beaches and sunshine, I also looked forward to the culinary experience in Los Angeles. If there is one place on earth where vegetarians and vegans can live happily ever after, then it is definitely L.A. It’s literally the Food Nirvana! Healthy food, beyond boring salads or raw food, is here at every corner. The right foodie-places, however, are not always so easy to find. That’s why I’m sharing my Top 5 food hotspots on Los Angeles with you today, that are mainly vegetarian/vegan. If you’re planning a trip to L.A., this is your food bucket list:
1. Gracias Madre
This is by far my favorite place to eat in L.A.. The location is just a dream and has the most beautiful outside area. The cuisine? Vegan Mexican all the way. Every dish on the menu is 100% organic. Even the cocktails, which are by the way absolute killer. We had a really hard time deciding what to eat. In the end, we went for a Mexican salad with chickpeas and coconut bacon (so delicious omg) and for the pulled Jackfruit Burger with oven vegetables (absolutely tasty). For a starter, we had homemade tortillas and the best guacamole ever. If you’re there, be sure to sit outside. When you order the homemade ice tea, you will get a free refill whenever your glass is empty. Yay for that!
Favorite dish: Pulled Jackfruit Burger (Not always on the card but just ask the waiter – it’s a real insider)
Location: 8905 Melrose Avenue, West Hollywood
2. Café Gratitude
Want to eat breakfast like a pro? Then you should definitely pay the Café Gratitude a visit. They have absolutely everything a veggie-lover could ask for. Roman and I went here for 3-4 times and never got disappointed. I also like the Gratitude-Concept of the Café. Very inspiring.
Favorite dish: French Toast with Cashew creme and Avocado Toast .. and of course the amazing cinnamon rolls!!
Location: 512 Rose Ave., Venice (more location)
3. The Butcher’s Daughter
The Butcher’s Daughter is a real ,,in” place in Venice. It’s located directly on the Abbot Kinney Boulevard, one of my favorite places in L.A.. Here you can have it all: breakfast, lunch and dinner. On the first evening, we had a super delicious pizza with figs, cheese and herbs here. The decor and interior are really beautiful and at the entrance, you can even buy a few home accessories. The breakfast is really great, too. Especially the Avocado bread blew my mind! It’s also a fun place for people-watching!
Favorite dish: Coconut Yogurt Granola Bowl (omg!!) + Avocado Toast
Location: 1205 Abbot Kinney Blvd, Venice
4. Urth Café
Even if the Urth Café is a chain, it has to be on the list. Here you can get one of the best breakfasts in town for a really good price. Chiara Ferragni and Co are also fans of the organic Café and sometimes you can spot some stars and it-girls here. The food is super delicious and their selection of healthy, fresh dishes is outstanding. I love the location in West Hollywood. Perfect to start a lovely day in the city.
Favorite dish: Homemade Almond Granola with fresh Berries + Iced Vanilla Matcha
Location: 8565 Melrose Avenue, West Hollywood (also in Santa Monica)
Kreation is a small, half open-air store on the opposite of The Butcher’s Daughter on Abbot Kinney Boulevard. They have the best juice ever. I tried a lot of juiceries while in L.A. but this is by far my favorite. The offer ist incredible, the price is lower than the others and they definitely have the best cold pressed juice e.v.e.r.
Favorite Juice: Master Cleanse (with Cayenne, yum!)
Location: 1202 Abbot Kinney Blvd., Venice
